This article will walk you through how to install and setup the Magical XML/HTML Sitemap app on your Shopify Store.

Create your HTML sitemap

You must create your sitemap to begin using the app.
Click “Create sitemap” to generate the sitemap. By default, it will list all Products, Collections, and Pages on your store.

- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Navigation.
- On the Navigation page, click the title of the menu that you want to edit.
- Click Add menu item.
- Enter a name for the menu item. This name displays in the menu, and can include special characters or emoji.
- Click the Link field, and then enter
/tools/sitemap
- From the dropdown below select the box with the arrow and /tools/sitemap to lock in your selections.
- Click Add to save your menu item.
- Click Save menu.
Remove link to your HTML sitemap
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Navigation.
- On the Navigation page, click the title of the menu that you want to edit.
- Click Delete beside the menu item that you want to remove.
- Click Remove to confirm.
- Click Save menu.
Submit your XML sitemap to Google
Your XML sitemap is a separately generated page designed to help search engines like Google index your website.
Follow these instructions to submit your XML sitemap to Google:
- Add domain properties and verify your site with Google.
- Copy your XML sitemap link:
https://{INSERT-YOUR-STORE-URL}/sitemap.xml
- Submit your sitemap file to Google Search Console.
Click the XML sitemap submitted button to confirm you have submitted your sitemap to Google.

Customizing the HTML sitemap
By default, the app generates an HTML sitemap featuring All Products, All Collections, and All Pages. However, it can also be manually customized:
Adding specific Products, Collections, Pages, Blogs, or Blog Posts to the HTML Sitemap
- Open the “HTML Sitemap” page in the app.
- Click “Add Item” within the section you want to edit.
- Under “Type” select the type of content you want to add.
- Under “Name” type the name of the page being added.
- Click within the “Link” box and paste the link or select the content you want to link to.
- Click “Add”.
- Click “Save” to publish the addition.
Adding legal or policy pages to the HTML sitemap
- Open the “HTML Sitemap” page in the app.
- Click “Add Item” within the section you want to edit.
- Under “Type” select “Custom URL”.
- Under “Name” type the name of the page being added.
- Under “Custom Link” paste the URL for the page being added.
- Click “Add”.
- Click “Save” to publish the addition.
